How to Join a Minecraft Server on PS4 and PS5

Minecraft Bedrock Edition on PlayStation gives you the featured server list and nothing else — there is no field to type a server address into. But Minecraft will always show worlds running on your local network. BedrockTogether runs on your phone, appears as one of those local worlds, and transfers you to the real server as soon as you join it.

No PC. No DNS rerouting. No router configuration.

Works on: PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro, PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro.

What you need

  • A PlayStation with Minecraft Bedrock Edition
  • An iPhone, iPad or Android phone with BedrockTogether installed
  • Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network
  • The server’s IP address and port (most Bedrock servers use port 19132)

Step by step

  1. Put your phone and your PlayStation on the same Wi-Fi network. Not a guest network, and make sure the phone is not still on mobile data.
  2. Open BedrockTogether and stay on the PlayStation · Xbox tab.
  3. Enter the server IP and the port. Use 19132 if the server does not list one.
  4. Tap “Watch Ad and Run”. The app confirms that the server is running and will transfer you. Keep the app open and the phone awake.
  5. On your PlayStation, open Minecraft, go to Play and then the Worlds tab. The server is listed there as a LAN game.
  6. Join it and you will be transferred to the real server.

After you have loaded into the server you can close the app.

If the server does not appear

Most failures come down to the two devices not really sharing a network, router client isolation, or the phone suspending the app. The troubleshooting page walks through each one.

Frequently asked

Does this work on PS4 and PS5? Both, and the steps are identical.

Do I need PlayStation Plus? You need whatever Minecraft itself requires for online play on your console — BedrockTogether does not change that.

Do I need to change my PlayStation’s DNS? No. That was the old workaround. BedrockTogether does not touch DNS, so there is nothing to set and nothing to revert.

Do I have to keep my phone nearby? Only until you have joined. Once you are playing on the server, the app has done its job and can be closed.
