How to Join a Minecraft Server on Xbox

Minecraft Bedrock Edition on Xbox has no “Add Server” button. The console will only show you featured partner servers — but it will show any Minecraft world running on your local network. BedrockTogether uses that: it runs on your phone, pretends to be a LAN world, and transfers you to the real server the moment you join.

No PC. No DNS rerouting. No router configuration.

What you need

An Xbox with Minecraft Bedrock Edition
An iPhone, iPad or Android phone with BedrockTogether installed
Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network
The server’s IP address and port (most Bedrock servers use port 19132)

Step by step

Connect your phone and your Xbox to the same Wi-Fi. This is the step people get wrong most often — a guest network, or a phone still on mobile data, will not work.
Open BedrockTogether and stay on the PlayStation · Xbox tab.
Type the server address into the IP field and the port into the port field. If the server lists no port, use 19132.
Tap “Watch Ad and Run”. The app confirms: Server is running and will transfer to <ip>:<port>. Leave the app open and your phone awake for now.
On your Xbox, start Minecraft and open the Play menu, then the Worlds tab. Your server appears there as a joinable LAN game.
Select it. You will be transferred straight to the real server.

Once you are in the server and playing, you can close the app on your phone.

If the server does not appear

The usual causes are the phone and console being on different networks, client isolation switched on in the router, or the app being put to sleep in the background. Each of those has a fix on the troubleshooting page.

Frequently asked

Do I need a PC? No. The phone does everything the PC used to do.

Do I need to change my Xbox DNS settings? No. Older guides told you to point your console’s DNS at a third-party server. BedrockTogether does not use DNS at all, so there is nothing to change and nothing to undo.

Will this get me banned? The LAN method uses Minecraft’s ordinary local-network discovery — the same mechanism as playing on a world hosted by someone in your house. See the FAQ for the separate warning that applies to the Nintendo Switch broadcast method.

Can my friends join too? Anyone on the same server can play with you. To play with friends who are not in your house, they run the app on their own network.
